Photo Retouching

Restoration
Through the use of modern digital methods, it is now possible to repair old photographs without damaging the original. A good family snapshot can become a great old photograph by simply fixing a few flaws. A genealogy photo can be greatly improved by our photo enhancement process.

Dust Cleaning
Dust and scratches on the film can be a big problem for scanning. Because of their reduced size (compared to prints) the scanners are capable of resolutions much higher than a regular flatbed scanner; typically at least 2000 samples per inch (spi), up to 4000 spi or more. At these resolutions dust and scratches take on gigantic proportions. Even small specks of dust, invisible to the naked eye, can obscure a cluster of several pixels. For this reason, techniques have been developed to remove their appearance from a scan

The simplest is the median filter, often called despeckle in many graphic manipulation programs, e.g. in Adobe Photoshop and the GIMP. It works by examining a pixel in relation to the pixels surrounding it; if it is too different from the surrounding pixels then it is replaced with the median value of them

Clipping Paths
In computer graphics, a clipping path is a path, or shape, used to cut out an image. Anything inside the path will be included after the clipping path is applied; anything outside the path will be omitted from the output. Applying the clipping path results in a hard edge. As an analogy, think of a cookie cutter. The shape of the cookie cutter describes the clipping path. The dough is analogous to the image the path is applied to. After the cutter is pressed in, everything outside of it is removed. The remaining image (or cookie in the analogy) has a clearly defined edge.

Skin Retouching
In digital editing, photographs are usually taken with a digital camera and input directly into a computer. If a digital camera is not available, a printed photograph may be digitized using a scanner. Photos can also be obtained from stock photography databases. With the advent of computers, graphics tablets, and digital cameras, the term photo editing encompasses everything that can be done to a photo in a darkroom or on a computer. Image editing software can be used to apply effects and warp an image in whatever way possible until the desired result is achieved.

Scanning
Document Scanning or Image Scanning is the action or process of converting text and graphic paper documents, photographic film, photographic paper or other files to digital images. This "analog" to "digital" conversion process (A<D) is required for computer users to be able to view electronic files.

Printing
Photographic printing is the process of producing a final image for viewing, usually on sensitized paper from a previously prepared photographic negative.

Album Designing
The Album Design program is the album design component of the Stamp Collector Series of programs without the database support. If you wish to design album pages and do not require the stamp database components then this is the one.

Keywording
key words used primarily in online help materials. It can be hard-coded jumps, similar to HTML jumps, or it can be inserted as embedded coding and compiled into a list by the software. Wright Information uses RoboHELP, RoboHTML, and other tools to keyword help files
